Kent Reliance has proudly sponsored the Demelza Business Awards again this year, to show solidarity and support for the essential care and respite they provide for children and their families across the south east. It was the volunteering efforts of the team that were among those honoured last week. Kent Reliance received the Volunteering Award and was named as a finalist for Outstanding Corporate Supporter of the Year (Bronze).
The awards ceremony, which took place in the grounds of Canterbury Cathedral on 21 November, celebrated a variety of fundraising and volunteering efforts along with a very special guest – Hallie Robb, a little girl living with a rare and complex condition that needs multiple treatments and hospital stays.
Joined by representatives from the local business community, guests heard how children like Hallie are supported to live life to the full by being able to play, laugh and sing at the Demelza hospice and through care at home in the community. Visiting the hospice not only allows Hallie to live life to the full and gain confidence and independence, but gives her the opportunity to spend quality time doing what she loves with her family in safe, supportive surroundings.
Kent Reliance’s community lead, Nimisha Cross, said: “We were absolutely thrilled to receive the Volunteering Award on the night, which reflects the energy and dedication of our teams, who chose to donate their time and give practical hands-on support as well as fundraise for this worthy cause. Our partnership with Demelza has grown from strength to strength over the years, and it was an honour to be invited to celebrate the tireless efforts of the Demelza team, who themselves are an inspiration.”
Mary Haisman, Senior Corporate Partnerships Executive, said: “Everyone at Demelza loves working with Kent Reliance, they’ve helped us in so many different ways and we really appreciate the support we receive. We’re so grateful to the team for attending the awards; celebrating their wonderful achievements, and look forward to working with them again across 2020 with a host of fundraising and volunteering opportunities. Every penny donated provides vital support for children with terminal conditions and their families, so thank you.”
