Paddles were splashed and tripled records were smashed at the KM Dragon Boat Race which accumulated a massive £100,000 for good causes across the country.

Fifty teams – the largest number of competitors to date – climbed aboard their boats in Mote Park, Maidstone to raise the huge cash sum for a multitude of charities.

Race record were also toppled by Whitstable team Blatch and Green who surged to victory for the fifth consecutive year. The team also achieved their fastest time ever of 50.02 seconds.

The Kent Reliance team were equally impressive, both in the boat and fund-raising stakes. The team managed to raise in excess of £600 for charity and placed 23 out of 50 teams.

Rob Gurr, Kent Reliance Events and PR Manager, gets the racing underway.
